Aliki Vouyouklaki

Aliki Stamatina Vougiouklaki was a Greek actress, singer, and theatrical producer born on July 20, 1934, in Marousi. Known as the “National Star of Greece,” she made her stage debut in The Imaginary Invalid in 1953 and her film debut in The Little Mouse in 1954. Vougiouklaki appeared in 42 films, winning Best Actress at the 1960 Thessaloniki International Film Festival for her role in Madalena. Her music career included the first gold disk in Greek history for the 1959 recording “Eho Ena Mistiko”. She frequently co-starred with Dimitris Papamichail and established her own theater company in 1961. Following her final film, Nelly the Spy, in 1981, she focused on producing large-scale musicals. Vougiouklaki died on July 23, 1996, in Athens from pancreatic cancer. The recording I Melodia Tis Eftihias was released posthumously in 2007.
