Alicia López Palazuelos (July 9, 1949 â August 26, 2017), professionally known as Alicia Juárez, was a Mexican ranchera singer born in La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico. She began her singing career at the age of 16 while living in Oxnard, California. Her breakthrough moment came when she met José Alfredo Jiménez, who launched her to fame and later became her husband. Juárez achieved international success with her ranchera music, performing across Colombia, Spain, South America, the United States, and Europe. She released several notable albums including Mis Ultimas Grabaciones con José Alfredo Jiménez (1975) and compilations like Las Coplas y Todos Sus Exitos (2004). Juárez also appeared in nine films, with starring roles in five of them, notably playing a fictionalized version of herself in the 1980 film El Charro del Misterio. She died on August 26, 2017, at her home in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico.
