Alex Harvey

Alexander James Harvey, known professionally as Alex Harvey, was a Scottish rock and blues musician. Harvey began a career in 1954 with skiffle groups and led Alex Harvey's Big Soul Band between 1958 and 1965. In 1972, he formed the Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB), featuring Zal Cleminson, Chris Glen, Ted McKenna, and Hugh McKenna. SAHB achieved success in Britain with singles including “Next” (1973), “The Faith Healer” (1974), and a cover of “Delilah” (1975), which reached number 7. The single “The Boston Tea Party” (1976) reached number 13. SAHB maintained a following in the United States, particularly in Cleveland. Harvey left the group in 1976, returning for the album Rock Drill (1978) before pursuing a solo career. Harvey died in 1982. In 2016, Universal Music released the compilation Last of the Teenage Idols (2016).
