Alex Domingo Castro Morales—known professionally as Alex D’Castro—was born on November 19, 1962, in Puerto Rico, and developed a passion for tropical and salsa music from a young age, initially performing with local ensembles and as a solo singer with La Selecta, one of the island’s celebrated salsa bands. Revered for his soulful vocals and expressive phrasing, Alex D'Castro has performed alongside salsa legends like Ismael Miranda, Nelson González, and Gilberto Santa Rosa, and contributed guest appearances on homage projects for Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz as well as performances with Tito Rojas. He embarked on a solo recording career in the early 1990s, debuting with Solo (1991), Regálame Esta Noche (1992), followed by Enhorabuena (1993), then releasing A Empezar de Nuevo (1994), El Tenor de la Salsa (1995), and Un Tenor para el Cielo in 1996, and the energetic live album En Acción in 2005. During this time, he also devoted himself to his religious beliefs, becoming a pastor for Iglesia Nuevo Testamento in Río Piedras, San Juan.
