Al Cisneros

Born in San José, California, on September 23, 1973, Alberto R. Cisneros (Al Cisneros) is a bassist and singer who has been a member of the doom metal band Sleep since 1990. He first formed the trio Asbetosdeath in 1989, releasing two EPs, before continuing as Sleep, whose debut album Volume One was released in 1991. In 2003, Cisneros set up the side project Om with his long-time partner Chris Hiakus, recording three albums until 2007 before leaving. In 2012, he begins his solo career with the single "Dismas", followed by the two-track dub EP "Ark Procession"/"Jericho" (2013). Two further EPs are released, Toward Nazareth in 2014 and Rosin in 2022, collected in the ten-year compilation Sinai Dub Box (2012-2022). In 2025, Cisneros teams up with David Eugene Edwards (Crime & the City Solution, 16 Horsepower, Woven Hand), for the Americana-scented double single "Pillar of Fire"/"Capernaum".
