Akai Ko-en

Akai Ko-en, a Japanese rock band formed in Tachikawa, Tokyo, on January 4, 2010, consisted of Chiaki Satō (vocals), Maisa Tsuno (guitar, vocals), Hikari Fujimoto (bass), and Nao Utagawa (drums, chorus). The band initially performed covers but began composing their own songs after Tsuno joined. Their first indie demo, Hajimemashite, was released in January 2011, followed by the mini-album Bremen to aruku two months later. In February 2012, Akai Ko-en signed with EMI Music Japan and released their major debut mini-albums Toumei Nanoka Kuro Nanoka and Laundry De Hyouhaku Wo. After a hiatus due to Tsuno's health issues, the band returned in March 2013 with the single "Imasara/Kōshin/Sayonara Wa Iwanai" and their first full-length album Kōen Debut. In 2014, they released Mouretsu Rhythmics, which won the "Outstanding Album Award" at the Japan Record Awards. The band collaborated with various producers, including Seiji Kameda of Tokyo Jihen, and achieved chart success with singles like "Zettaitekina Kankei/Kikkake/Tooku Tooku", which peaked at number 20 on the charts. In 2017, Chiaki Satō left the band, and Riko Ishino joined as the new vocalist in 2018. Akai Ko-en released their final album THE PARK in April 2020. Following Maisa Tsuno's death in 2020, the group disbanded on May 28, 2021.
