American rap artist Ace Hood was born Antoine McColister in Port St. Lucie, Florida in 1988. McColister originally had aspirations to become a professional football player but following an injury sustained at school he realised his football dream was over and decided to try music. He joined a local rap trap troupe called Dollaz and Dealz and in 2006 released single 'M.O.E.' and began to promote himself via local talent shows and open mic nights. A year later a chance meeting with the record producer and radio personality DJ Khaled led to McColister being signed to Khaled's We Best Music Group label. His debut album for the label was 'Gutta' which reached number two in Billboard's Top Rap Album Charts and featured guest appearances from T-Pain and Rick Ross. His best known recording to date has been the 2013 album 'Trials and Tribulations', a 14-track compilation of songs which included the single 'Bugatti' which went on to sell over a million copies; the album itself debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and has been the artist's most successful album.
