5000 Volts was formed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s. The band was initiated by producer Tony Eyers. Key members include Tina Charles, born on March 10, 1954 in London, and Martin Jay, born on January 1, 1950 in London. Stylistically, the group moves between disco, pop and soul. From 1975, 5000 Volts became increasingly popular and reached an international audience. Their breakthrough came in 1975 with the single "I'm on Fire". The song reached number 4 in the British charts and number 1 in several European countries. The album 5000 Volts (1975) followed in the same year. Other well-known titles include "Doctor Kiss Kiss" (1976), which reached the Top 10 in the UK, and "Bye Love" (1976). After the departure of Tina Charles, the band continued with different female singers. Further albums are released, including Look Out - I'm on Fire (1976). Later releases attract less attention.
