1 of the Girls

1 of the Girls is a short-lived R&B group discovered by the man who was to become their producer, Gerald Levert. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, the quartet formed in 1993 comprises Nina Creque, LaShawn Sykes, Marvelous Ray Miles and Ra-Deon Kirkland. Emerging in the wake of New Jack Swing, the group also tended towards hip-hop on its only album of the same name, from which the hit "Do da What" (#74 on the Billboard Hot 100, #38 on the R&B charts) and the single "Handle with Care" were taken . Daughter of jazz organist and composer Neal Creque, Nina Lornaye Creque passed away in February 2019.
